P.S. Lewis Carroll's Alice Notes
"On which occasion I told them the fairy-tale of “Alice’s Adventures Under Ground...”
There have been many Alices. First, there was Lewis Carroll’s friend, the 10-year old Alice Liddell, who inspired the story of a young girl who falls down a rabbit hole and visits Wonderland.
And then, there were several versions of the fantastical character Alice, before Macmillan published Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland in 1865. Carroll created several drafts filled with his own illustrations. He gifted one of them to Alice Liddell for Christmas in 1863. And it is delightful!
So, join me on this exploration of Carroll’s diaries and drafts of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland!
